Killarney local candidate undertaking digital canvassing during campaign

A former Killarney town councillor has announced his intention to run in the upcoming local elections.

Niall Botty O’Callaghan, who works in the family bar and restaurant business, says he left politics five years ago due to bullying and online abuse.

Should he get elected, he hopes to help businesses in the town which are struggling with VAT increases and to combat traffic congestion in the tourist town.

Mr O’Callaghan says, despite past affiliations with Fianna Fáil and the Healy-Raes, he’s running as an independent candidate in the May 24th elections.

He adds he won’t be engaging in traditional canvassing.
