Killarney leisure centre project to go back to tender

Cllrs in Killarney have agreed to put the controversial sports and leisure centre project back out to tender. The decision was made at a special Council meeting last night after tenders received so far came in well over budget. It’s been agreed that the design team will re-evaluate the project in the hope of cutting down costs. The issue is expected to come before the Council again for a vote in September.Last night Cllr Niall Botty O` Callaghan kept up his opposition to the project and called for it to be scrapped. He says going back out to tender seems like a waste of time. Cllr Sean O Grady is in favour of the project going out to tender again. He says the re structured project should see bids come in under budget.
