Killarney cousins further compensate victims

Two Killarney men who got almost €132,000 by deception, have paid more compensation to their victims. 31 year old Patrick Dooley of 89 Forest Close, Killarney and his cousin John Dooley who is 24 and from 72 Pinewood Estate, Killarney pleaded guilty to obtaining the cheques from an elderly couple at Derriknow, Gleninchaquin, Tousist, Kenmare in 2008. Tralee Courthouse In 2008 Patrick and John Dooley  agreed to carry out work on the driveway and garden of the couple’s home in Tousist. Works were carried out over an eight month period but Tralee Circuit Court heard they were grossly overvalued by the cousins. Patrick Dooley has admitted getting eight cheques totalling €77,700 while John Dooley admitted receiving €54,200 in six cheques. The couple, who had retired from the USA to Kerry, used their life savings to cover the cost of the work. Tralee Circuit Court was today told that €72,000 has been paid back by Patrick and John Dooley. Judge Carroll Moran adjourned the case until the Trinity term of Tralee Circuit Court which begins next May.
