Killarney Councillor predicts bedlam following abolition of town council

A Killarney town councillor is predicting utter bedlam this summer following the abolition of town councils. Cllr Niall Botty O’Callaghan along with his fellow councillors have demanded answers in relation to the future administration of the council. Killarney Town CouncilCllr Niall Botty O’Callghan asked the town manager to explain what will happen to the town council staff, while Cllr Sean Counihan questioned how the council will be administered. Cllr Sean O’Grady said some administrative staff will have to remain in Killarney. Town Manager John Breen told this months meeting of the local authority that the Local Government Reform Act was only signed into law three weeks ago and the details are not yet clear. However he did say extensive work has gone on in the background.
