Kilgarvan are out of the AIB Munster Junior Club Hurling Championship.
They’ve been beaten in Fitzgerald Stadium by Cork outfit Russell Rovers, 2-21 to 1-11.
Mike O’Halloran reports
Kilgarvan were down by 1-10 to 1-4 at the break. That gap could have been closer but Donal O’Sullivan was unable to take a goal chance just before the break. Russell Rovers had the first three points of the encounter before Sean Godfrey and Donal O’Sullivan pointed for Kilgarvan to reduce the deficit to 3 points to 2 by the 9th minute mark. Russell Rovers doubled their advantage before a Donal O’Sullivan goal put Kilgarvan in front on 11 minutes. However, Russell Rovers took over on the scoreboard, putting over two points before a goal put them in charge at 1-6 to 1-2. They extended the lead to 6 by the break.
That advantage grew as the second half progressed, with Russell Rovers ahead by 2-15 to 1-7 at the three quarter stage. They went on to win by 13.
