Kerry’s Sean O’Shea Named Footballer of the Week

Kerry forward Sean O’Shea is the GAA.ie Footballer of the Week.

He wins the award for his display in the weekend win at Roscommon as the Kingdom booked their place in the League Final.

O’Shea received 8,258 votes on the GAA instagram page, more than the combined total of the other two nominees; Mayo’s Kevin McLoughlin and Meath’s James McEntee.

The citation reads “Sean O’Shea maintained his excellent spring form with another decisive contribution against Roscommon. The prolific O’Shea continues to accumulate scoring hauls and struck a goal during the victory at Dr Hyde Park.”

Mayo manager James Horan says getting to the Allianz Football League Final was not one of his objectives at the start of the year.

Mayo are through to their first Division 1 final in seven years after finishing second in the League table, 2 points behind Kerry.

The sides will face off at 4 on Sunday in Croke Park.
