A Kerry TD has welcomed the extension to the consultation period for the Skellig Michael Management Plan.

The government is due to submit a new management plan to UNESCO this year, with a public consultation to guide and inform the content and direction of the new plan.

In recent days, the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht extended the date for submissions to January 31st.

Deputy Michael Healy-Rae has welcomed the extension, saying local boatmen had contacted him in relation to extending the consultation period.
