A Kerry TD says a reduced speed limit should be implemented in Glenflesk as soon as possible.
Last month, the local authority published the new Road Traffic Special Speed Limit Bye-Laws 2018, which was adopted by councillors.
The new speed limits are due to be implemented by June of this year.
Earlier this month, at the inquest into a fatal road traffic accident in Glenflesk, the coroner recommended the roads authority intervene and reduce the speed limit in the village.
Forensic Collision Investigator Garda James O’Brien also said it’s incomprehensible that the speed limit in the village was 100 kmph.
Deputy Danny Healy-Rae is now calling on Transport Infrastructure Ireland to reduce the speed limit at Glenflesk Village to 60 kmph immediately, and not wait until June.
He also wants the Minister for Transport, Shane Ross, to get involved and address this issue in Glenflesk.
The Kerry TD claims the people of Glenflesk have been calling for a reduced speed limit since 2009.
