Kerry TD says recent controversies in health service have diverted attention from outpatient waiting lists

A Kerry TD says recent controversies in the health service have diverted the attention from outpatient waiting lists.

National Treatment Purchase Fund figures for January show 523,200 people are waiting on appointments, an increase of 7,000 on the previous month.

Included in the number are 46,300 children, who are waiting on consultations at children’s hospitals.

Fianna Fáil spokesperson for Primary Care John Brassil says the day-to-day issues cannot be ignored.

Deputy Brassil has submitted a parliamentary question in an effort to find out how many people in Kerry are being affected by delays with the National Treatment Purchase Fund.

The Kerry TD adds something must change.
