Kerry TD concerned over stoppage of hip and knee replacements at University Hospital Kerry

A Kerry TD has expressed concerns that hip and knee replacements have been stopped at University Hospital Kerry in recent months.

Deputy Michael Healy-Rae says he is extremely concerned that such operations have not been taking place over the past few months.

Mr Healy-Rae has contacted the Tralee-based hospital who say the operations are due to recommence on August 27th.

The local TD says it is very unfair that people were not fully informed.

Michael Healy-Rae also added that waiting lists are totally unacceptable to people who are in urgent need of having procedures carried out.

He is calling on the Minister for Health to recommit to ensuring waiting times are brought within an acceptable period of time.
