The Kerry Sports Academy at IT Tralee will be officially opened today.
Tánaiste Simon Coveney will visit the North Campus to open the state-of-the-art facility.
The 19-million-euro Kerry Sports Academy at the Institute of Technology Tralee was completed earlier this year.
It will house Health and Leisure Programmes at IT Tralee, the UNESCO Chair in Inclusive Physical Education, Sport Fitness and Recreation and CARA, the National Centre for Adapted Physical Activity.
The complex includes an aerobics and dance studio with a wooden sprung floor, a gym, hydrotherapy pool, an all-weather synthetic pitch, a GAA pitch and full-sized athletics track.
All outdoor facilities are supported by dressing rooms and are fully floodlit.
The facility will allow movement of students and staff from the South Campus.
Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Simon Coveney will be on site this lunchtime to perform the official opening.
Invited guests will also be addressed by Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport, Brendan Griffin, former Tánaiste and Chair of the IT Tralee Foundation Board, Dick Spring and Chairman of IT Tralee, Lionel Alexander.
