Kerry Senator still concerned about future of Valentia Coast Guard

A Kerry Senator says he is still concerned about the future of Valentia Coast Guard. Fianna Fáil Senator Mark Daly from Kenmare Fianna Fail’s Mark Daly is calling on the Transport Minister to reverse a decision to relocate an engineering position previously at the south Kerry station. The engineer who ensures equipment is working properly has now retired but his replacement will be based in Cork. The Minister says the Cork location provides a good base for the engineer to cover coastguard units in both counties in an amalgamated service. Senator Daly fears the move will put lives at risk: [audio_player src=”http://media.radiokerry.ie/mediamanager/embed/audio/41488/medium/”]
