Kerry Senator says urgent action is needed on the Undocumented Irish in the US

A Kerry Senator has called on the Foreign Affairs Committee to hold a special hearing to discuss the situation of the undocumented Irish in the United States in the wake of new executive orders signed by President Trump.

President Trump has this week signed an executive order which prioritises the deportation of undocumented immigrants who have been convicted of any criminal offence.

Fianna Fáil Seanad Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs, Irish Overseas and the Diaspora, Senator Mark Daly said that this is causing a great deal of fear, stress and anxiety for the 50,000 undocumented Irish living in the United States and he has requested that the Foreign Affairs Committee hold a special hearing to discuss the situation.

He added that it does not only affect the undocumented Irish in America but it is also causing a great deal of worry for their families in Ireland.
