Kerry senator calls for deer fencing for Killarney National Park

A Kerry senator has called for deer fencing for Killarney National Park.

Seanad Leas-Cathaoirleach Paul Coghlan has asked for a detailed statement on all aspects of the deer population and its management in Killarney National Park and its environs.

Speaking in the Seanad, Senator Coghlan says he appreciates the scale of the challenge that increasing deer numbers are having on the National Park and Wildlife Service.

He has called on the Minister and NPWS to seriously consider the erection of deer fencing at selected points where there isn’t already fencing or walls.
