Seven Kerry schools have qualified for the semi-final stages of the southern region Junk Kouture competition.

The competition challenges students to create a wearable couture design featuring reworked trash or other used materials that are beyond their intended purpose.

The schools announced as qualifiers earlier this week include Gaelcholáiste Chiarraí in Tralee, Coláiste Íde agus Iosaef in Abbeyfeale, St Joseph’s Secondary School in Ballybunion, St Patrick’s Secondary School in Castleisland, Presentation Secondary School in Castleisland, Pobalscoil Corca Dhuibhne in Dingle and Mercy Secondary School Mounthawk in Tralee.
