Kerry schools to benefit from expansion of the School Meals Scheme

Eight Kerry schools are set to benefit from an extension of the school meals programme.

Fine Gael Kerry TD Brendan Griffin was informed by Minister for Social Protection Leo Varadkar of the details of this year’s €47.7 million scheme.

Castleisland schools Scoil Muire Gan Smal, Scoil Naomh Cárthaigh and Curranes National School are to be included.


Also joining the scheme are Listowel Presentation Primary; Scoil Naisiunta Mhuire De Lourdes, Lixnaw; Holy Family School, Balloonagh, Tralee; and Scoil Realt na Maidne, Listowel.

The School Meals Scheme provides breakfasts and in some cases, lunches to school children benefitting over 200,000 children nationally.
