Kerry road users urged to be vigilant during silage season

People using the roads in rural areas of Kerry in the coming weeks are being urged to be extra vigilant as silage season gets underway.

The ICMSA says this is a particularly busy time on Irish farms and many farmyards will be a hive of activity with pressure on to harvest silage as quickly as possible.

Chair of the ICMSA Farm and Rural Affairs Committee, Denis Drennan says it is crucial that both farmers and contractors ensure all work is carried out in a safe environment and to let tailbacks pass them to avoid risky overtaking.

He also appealed to other road users to be aware of increased agricultural traffic and to expect the unexpected.
