Kerry poeple with asthma and COPD urged to get flu vaccine

Kerry people with asthma and Coronary Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) are being urged to get the flu vaccine.

The Asthma Society says there are over 11,200 people with asthma and around 16,300 people with COPD in Kerry.

The group is asking those with the conditions to speak with their GP or pharmacist about the flu vaccine as people with such long-term illnesses are at higher risk of flu, which could be fatal.

Every year, between 200 and 500 people die as a result of the flu.
