Kerry Player Says GAA Didn’t Give New Rules Enough Thought

The new football rules will come under a stronger spotlight this weekend when the inter-county football season moves up a notch with the start of the Allianz League.

Having opted out of the McGrath Cup earlier this month, this Sunday’s Division 1 opener against Tyrone will be Kerry’s chance to test the rules in a competitive match.

Changes to the hand-pass have been dropped, while new rules surrounding the kick-out, sideline kicks and the mark will remain along with the introduction of the sin-bin.

Versatile Kerry senior player Paul Murphy says not enough thought went into the process that led to the introduction of a number of new rules for Gaelic football.
