Kerry Mayor expresses concern on N Kerry’s future with Cork/ Kerry Tourism

The Mayor of Kerry says he is dubious about North Kerry`s future association with Cork/ Kerry Tourism. Cllr Ned O Sullivan says Cork/Kerry failed Listowel and North Kerry when they dealt with them in the past. He says the group will have to be closely watched to ensure North Kerry have full representation on the board. Members of Listowel Town Council are to hold a meeting with Chief Executive Maura Moynihan in the New Year. When news broke of North Kerry`s amalgamation with Cork Kerry, tourism interests in the region said they wanted re assurances that the area would be marketed as vigorously as the South Kerry/ Killarney region. The Mayor of the county is expressing a similar opinion. He says The Town Council needs to watch Cork Kerry`s every move and that the council will agree to meet with them only on the basis that they will get proper and adequate representation on the board. As it stands Kerry County Council and Killarney have shared representation on the board of Cork Kerry Tourism. Cork Kerry take over responsibility for marketing North kerry in the New Year.
