The PRO of the Kerry branch of the Irish Hotels Federation has called on the county’s new Junior Minister to maintain the 9% VAT rate for the tourism sector.
Tom Randles of Randles Hotel Killarney congratulated Brendan Griffin who this week was appointed as Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport with special responsibility for Tourism and Sport.
Mr Randles says it is important to have such a person in the role who has an understanding of the tourism business.
He says Brexit poses a long-term challenge to the industry and it is important that funding is provided to market the country internationally.
