Kerry IFA fears publishing payments could increase crime

The Kerry branch of the Irish Farmers Association says it is concerned the publishing of payments will lead to farmers being targeted by criminal gangs. IFA Farmers logo Today’s Irish Examiner reports that last year almost 1,900 farmers nationally were paid over €50,000 each under the Common Agricultural Policy’s single payment scheme. In Kerry the highest payment was over €181,000. Chair of the IFA in Kerry Sean Brosnan says all of this public money is accounted for and there is no merit in publishing farmers’ details: [audio_player src=”http://media.radiokerry.ie/mediamanager/embed/audio/41327/medium/”]
