Kerry IFA calls for extension of deadline for Farm Safety Scheme

IFA’s Rural Development Chairman has called on the Agriculture Minister to immediately allow farmers who have successfully applied for the Farm Safety Scheme to proceed with work. The Farm Safety Scheme is a temporary fund where farmers can apply for funding towards improving safety on their farm. IFA Farmers logo It’s expected that this temporary fund will be made permanent in the next Rural Development Plan. According to figures released yesterday by the Health Safety Authority, 30 people died in farm place accidents last year; one of these fatal accidents occurred in Kerry. So far 4000 farmers have applied for Farm Safety Scheme.
