The Kerry Hospice Foundation is committed to raising over €2 million for the Palliative Care in-patient unit in Tralee.
Volunteers will spend the next five years working to ensure vital funds are raised.
That’s according to Julett Culloty, 2015 Kerry Rose and member of the Killarney Hospice branch.
Ms Culloty, who was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2014, was speaking ahead of the Models in Recovery fashion show, a major fundraiser taking place in the INEC next Wednesday.
The in-patient unit opened at University Hospital Kerry last December and provides end of life care along with symptom management and other services.
Julett Culloty says the foundation has committed to pay the unit’s running costs for the first five years.
