Kerry has one of the higher rates of GPs per head of population in the country.
That’s according to figures in the Medical Workforce Intelligence Report for 2016 and 2017 from the Medical Council, which regulates the profession.
It’s show that Kerry has 1 GP per 1,000 of population, fifth best in the country.
Sligo has the highest rate at 1.09 GPs per 1,000 of population, and Meath has the lowest at 0.55.
The report found that 2,830 doctors left the Medical Council’s register in 2016 and 2017 to move abroad.
