Kerry had second highest number of summonses issued in 2014 for non payment of TV licenses

TV Television Kerry had the second highest number of summonses issued last year for non-payment of TV licences. Kerry was second only to Dublin, where in Tralee 540 summonses were issued. In Limerick 391 summonses were served, while in Ennis, 393 people were summonsed for non payment. The Minister for Justice Frances Fitzgerald issued the figures to Limerick Fine Gael TD Patrick O’Donovan and said prosecution was a matter for An Post. Evasion rates for the €160 TV licence are estimated at 15 per cent resulting in a revenue shortfall of more than €25 million a year.
