Kerry General included in funding announced by Minister

It’s understood that Kerry General Hospital is to be included in the latest round of funding announced by Minister for Health Mary Harney. A detailed list of projects to benefit has not yet been released but Fianna Fail TD Tom Mc Ellistrim says community health projects in Tralee will be advanced. Today’s announcement by Tanaiste Mary harney follows a long campaign for funding by several health lobby groups around the country including here in Kerry.The Minister has made 564 million euro available to the health service executive to proceed with planned capital projects across Ireland. According to Deputy Tom Mc Ellistrim Kerry General Hospital has been approved for funding for planned projects that cost between 2 million and 20 million euro. As a result it’s understood that the proposed Tralee community nursing unit will now go ahead. The development is a 50 bed facility which will be built on a greenfield site located off killerisk road. It’s something that senior citizens in the Tralee have been campaigning for years.
