Kerry footballer to raise awareness around importance of activity in older people

Older people need to ‘use it or lose it’ and ‘hold onto what they have’ in order to slow down the ageing process.

That’s according to Kerry footballer and chartered physiotherapist, Donnchadh Walsh, who was speaking at the launch of World Physiotherapy Day recently.

Mr Walsh says as people head towards retirement they can tend to slow down or even stop what they would normally do.

He says the rugby term ‘use it or lose it’ is never truer of our physical abilities as we age.
