Kerry Fire and Rescue Service had to deal with 21 callouts over the weekend including 12 gorse fires.

From Friday into Saturday morning, fire crews responded to gorse fires in Knocknagoshel, Caragh Lake, Brosna, Muckross and Moyvane.

Kerry Fire and Rescue Service is asking people to be vigilant about starting fires in the countryside.

It says carelessness can endanger lives and cause severe damage to forests and wildlife as well as being a financial burden on the council.
