Kerry experienced the greatest number of dull days in August.

Met Eireann has released its weather summary for last month, which show the county received the lowest number of sunshine hours nationwide.

Data from Met Eireann shows the county experienced 11 dull days last month, with an average of under three hours of sunshine per day.


Valentia Observatory’s recorded rainfall figures were marginally above average for August, with 86mm of rain falling in the month.

Temperatures were higher than average, however, with a mean reading of 15.2 degrees Celsius.

The warmest day in August was the 31st, when a temperature of 20.1 degrees was recorded at the South Kerry weather station.
