Kerry exhibitors say today’s cancellation of the National Ploughing Championships is very disappointing.
The site in Co. Offaly was due to open later than usual but has now been cancelled completely for today because of Storm Ali.
This is only the second time weather has affected the ploughing, in 1965 the event had to be postponed for a week because of snow.
Kerry County Council’s Tourism Unit is coordinating the Kerry tent at the event promoting the ‘Kerry Your Natural Escape’ brand.
Yesterday, the tent was a hive of activity and included a visit from Rose of Tralee Kirsten Mate Maher.
Among the exhibitors in the tent is Sandra Leahy from Kerry County Museum who says Storm Ali has caused a lot of damage to the site:
