Kerry County Council is in the process of replacing the controversial black balls of Ballybunion.
The low black bollards were installed on pavements around the town in early January, to prevent illegal parking; they replaced aluminium bollards.
There were complaints by locals, however, who said they posed a danger to motorists and pedestrians.
Kerry County Council says the round bollards are in the process of being removed and ground sockets are being installed to allow for another type of bollard to be installed.
Local Sinn Féin Cllr Robert Beasley says the installation of new cast iron bollards is a welcome development.
