Kerry County Council rejects application for Fenit mast.

An application for a 25 metre mobile phone mast in Churchill near Fenit has been rejected by Kerry County Council. Planners issued a decision this week citing the visual impact the mast will have on the landscape. In their summary Kerry County Council planners say the mast is too close to a residential area. The County Development Plan sets a radius of one kilometre for masts to keep them away from housing and places of work. Overall the council says the mast is contrary to the proper planning of the area. The decision has been welcomed by AMACH a group of residents opposed to Meteor’s proposal. They lodged over 70 individual objections against the mast. Meteor now has four weeks to appeal the decision to an Bord Pleanala.
