The flags are awarded to beaches and marinas which comply with criteria relating to water quality, information provision, environmental education, and beach management.

The Kerry beaches retaining their flags are Ballybunion North, Ballybunion South, Ballyheigue, Ballinskelligs, Banna, Derrynane, Fenit, Kells, Inch, Maherbeg, Rossbeigh, Ventry and White Strand.

Fenit Marina also retains it Blue Flag this year.
