Kerry County Council is to look at providing separate public bins for recyclable goods.

Cllr Jimmy Moloney asked the council to look into this, in order to help with the reduction of single use compostable materials going for disposal.

The council will review the proposal, and examine the process and procedures for collection, segregation, screening, and disposal of general, dry recyclable, and organic waste collected in public bins.

Subject to the outcome of this review, the council will consider piloting a scheme.
