A Kerry councillor says lighting needs to be erected on a busy junction as a matter of safety.

Councillor Michael Gleeson requested Kerry County Council and the TII provide adequate public lighting on the approaches to and at the junction of the N72 and L3000-3 near the Golden Nugget.

He says it is a very busy vehicular junction, near a dedicated walkway, which urgently requires proper lighting.

He adds local business people are concerned for the safety of staff and the public.

Kerry County Council says this location is part of a TII Safety Scheme being developed from the Golden Nugget to Gap Cross.

The council adds that the provision of lighting at this junction is being considered as part of that scheme.
