A Kerry councillor has raised health and safety concerns in relation to a bridge in Beaufort.

At a recent meeting of the South and West Kerry Municipal District, Councillor Michael Cahill called on the Department of Transport to heighten the walls at Skully’s Bridge on the Bord of Works road.

The Fianna Fail Councillor explained to the meeting that the road has been raised on a number of occasions over the years and how the walls on either side are now dangerously low.

In response to Cllr Cahill’s request, Kerry County Council will examine the bridge to determine what works may be required at the structure.

Any remedial works needed will be funded from local roads bridge maintenance
