A Kerry county councillor is calling for the overrun in construction costs for the Tralee bypass to be re-examined.
The bill for the construction of the Tralee Bypass jumped from double the original contract of €30 million to €76 million, this did not include VAT.
The works were carried out by BAM Civil, the same company which are working on the National Children’s Hospital which has increased to more than 1.7 billion euro.
Sinn Féin councillor Toiréasa Ferris says she would like to see the Tralee bypass issue re-examined, even if it is not possible to recover the money but so lessons can be learned.
She says her biggest concern is that no one is being held accountable for wasting taxpayers’ money.
