A Kerry councillor is calling for an audit into the use of community CCTV to conclude, as he believes such a system will combat anti-social behaviour.
An audit is currently being undertaken into the use of community CCTV by the Data Protection Commissioner.
It began last March and as a result the installation of CCTV has been paused by all local authorities.
Listowel Sinn Fein Councillor Tom Barry says there has been a rise in anti-social behaviour recently including vandalism, criminal damage and illegal dumping throughout the county.
Cllr Barry believes people would not part-take in such acts if cameras were in place.
He says the sooner the audit is completed the better for local communities.
