A Kerry pro-choice group is calling on Minister Simon Harris to enhance abortion services in rural areas.
Kerry for Choice joined 33 pro-choice groups from around the country in signing an open letter to the Minister for Health saying people living in rural areas are being left behind by the recently introduced abortion legislation.
The letter alleges that people living in such areas are forced to travel long distances to access care and also how patients are being forced to travel long distances to access maternity units.
It also calls on Minister Harris to reduce the mandatory three-day waiting period, necessitating two visits to an abortion provider.
The letter was organised by Tipperary for Choice a fellow regional group of the Abortion Rights Campaign.
