Kerry candidates spend over €330,000 in local elections

Candidates in the county spent over 330,000 euro during last June`s local elections. That’s an average of over five a half thousand for each of the 60 candidates on the ballot papers in the five electoral areas. The biggest spender was Fine Gael`s Brendan Griffin who splashed out nearly 20,000 on his campaign. Candidates in Dingle also spent more per head than any other area. Their average was 9,700 euro and Killarney was next on 7,200. The 13 candidates in the Killarney area chalked up nearly 100,000 euro in expenses.
