Kerry cancer patient affected by cancellations at CUH yesterday

The HSE said the cancellation of a number of surgeries at Cork University Hospital yesterday was due to a very busy emergency department. A Kerry woman who is undergoing treatment for cancer told Radio Kerry her procedure was cancelled at the last minute. Cork university hospital She said she had travelled to Cork yesterday morning and was waiting to be taken to the operating theatre when she was told her procedure had to be postponed. A spokesperson for the HSE said there were 35 patients waiting on trolleys in Cork University Hospital’s emergency department yesterday. Due to the ‘immense pressure’ the ED and other departments were under, a number of procedures were cancelled. The spokesperson for the HSE said he couldn’t confirm how many patients were affected, however he said all patients would be contacted today, to rearrange their procedures.
