Kerry Agribusiness is launching a major campaign focusing on the care of dairy calves.
Over 1.5 million dairy calves will be born on Irish farms next Spring; over 100,000 of those will be on Kerry farms.
Concerns are mounting about calves born in February and March, especially bull calves, regarding housing on farms.
Over 190,000 calves will be shipped overseas this year with many of those destined for the veal industry in the Netherlands and Spain.
There are also concerns about the slaughtering of young calves here and within the beef sector about the quality of calves being produced.
