Kenmare Councillor to pursue bridge lighting proposal despite council decision

A Kerry County Councillor says he will continue to pursue his proposal to illuminate Kenmare Bridge. Patrick Connor Scarteen 1 Fine Gael Cllr Patrick Connor Scarteen wants LED recessed lighting on the bridge which is the gateway to West Cork. However Kerry County Council has not given the proposal the go ahead. The council says the National Energy Action Plan required all local authorities to reduce energy consumption by 33% by 2020 and therefore it is not considering any lighting for aesthetic purposes.
