KCC Official is investigated under new ethics legislation

An official at Kerry County Council is being investigated under new ethics legislation. The investigation centres on an engineer employed by the local authority. It`s understood a detailed complaint has been made against the individual. In 2000 the former County Manager Martin Nolan undertook an investigation into two engineers. Action was taken against both after the investigation was completed in 2001.Following that process a code of conduct was drawn up. More recently an investigation into Cllr Danny Healy Rae has been launched under the same legislation. Cllr Healy Rae was expected to respond to a letter from the mayor and county manager last week. A formal process was initiated after legal opinion was sought from a senior counsel.
