KCC hopes to ceate 500 new jobs in Kerry.

Kerry County Council hopes to create up to 500 industrial jobs in the county over the next five years. The jobs will be created through the promotion of the county’s two hub towns. A document on maximizing the Tralee Killarney corridor calls for a 60 acre expansion to the technology park in Tralee. The council is to spend the next 12 months devising a strategy to maximise Tralee and Killarneys designation.A project manager is to be appointed to oversee the implementation of the programme. Director of Services Willy Wixtead says all future applications for capital funding in the county will be predicated on this document. The document will seek increased funding for roads in the county in particular the national secondary routes which are many of the main arteries into the county.A draft proposal calls for Farranfore to be established as a major regional warehouse base. This would release the existing freight site at the railway station in Tralee. In relation to tourism the draft policy calls for the unification of marketing promotion for the county. It states this brand unity is something the Minister for Tourism, Shannon Development and Fáilte Ireland can work towards.
