KCC hopes for Government backing for coastal erosion

The County Council hopes to get government backing to stop flooding and coastal erosion in mid-Kerry. Low lying land in Cromane has been at risk of flooding and parts of Rossbeigh have been eroded. Councillor Michael Cahill has called for emergency works to be carried out. However, the planned pier at Cromane could provide a solution. Engineer with the Council Eamon Scanlon says material excavated from the harbour could be used to repair sea embankments and prevent erosion. He says The Council has approached The Marine Department.
