Justice Minister says Irish citizenship process very rigorous

The Justice Minister has said there are no plans to make attaining Irish citizenship more difficult.

Minister for Justice Charlie Flanagan is in Killarney today where more than 2,000 people from 90 countries are being conferred with Irish citizenship.

Speaking on Kerry Today, the Minister said everyone receiving citizenship goes through a very rigorous process.

Meanwhile, speaking on Garda reform ahead of the Garda Representative Association conference which gets underway in Killarney this evening, Minister Flanagan said there is an appetite for change within the Gardai.
