Justice Minister rejects calls for James Reilly’s resignation

Calls for the Health Minister to resign have been rejected by the Justice Minister. Health Minister James ReillyYesterday, the Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin criticised James Reilly and said he had had lost control of his department. Minister Reilly has come under scrutiny in relation to the deficit in the health sector. However, the Justice Minister hit out at Deputy Martin’s comments describing his remarks as ‘astonishing’. Alan Shatter said  Micheál Martin ‘has no sense of shame and remains in denial of the impact of his party s incompetence’. Meanwhile, the Sinn Féín President Gerry Adams has said Micheál Martin’s call for the health minister to resign missed the point. He said a change of government is needed and not a new Health Minister.
