Jury selected for Tralee trial of woman charged with child abduction

A jury has been selected for the trial of a woman charged with taking a child under 16 out of the state in defiance of the district court.

The woman, who cannot be named to protect the identity of her child, has pleaded not guilty to the offence, which allegedly occurred on 13th June 2016.

It’s the prosecution’s case that the accused contravened an order, which was given in Tralee District Court on 30th June 2015, by knowingly taking her child out of the state’s jurisdiction through Dublin Airport.

The jury of six men and six women have been selected and the trial is due to begin tomorrow morning in Tralee Circuit Court under Judge Tom O’Donnell.
